To use a scalpel to cut a design into skin. The end result after the healing process would be a scar in the design that was cut.
I have always been interested in body modifications. I throughly enjoy all the different styles but my passion lies within the "Cutting" realm.
I spent the last few years, with the help of my friends skin donations, teaching myself the art form that would soon take over my thoughts.
This summer I had the opportunity of a lifetime and was able, again with the help of my friends. to take a intensive course in Scarification with one of the top artists in the world. Wayde Dunn.
I learned so much from our time together and was thrilled when he complimented me on how I had done so far and how he thought I would only get better!
Since he left I have already had the opportunity to put some of my new knowledge to work!
I am even more confident now and always looking for those people that like a different form of expression in hopes they may wish to have a beautiful scar for themselves!
Want a Cutting.. Know this....
Placement of the scar is what will help to ensure a good outcome
(large muscle groups, no belly or face, hands or feet)
It takes approx 2 years for a scar to mature in that time you will see it go through different stages, scabs, redness etc.
Rubbing in ash etc is dangerous!! You are introducing dirt into a wound.
Yes this is a wound!! You can get a life threatening infection from this.
There is no need to pick your scabs. they will fall away on their own.
Keep your stuff clean! Wash hands before tending to it etc!
Even after taking all these things into consideration the final outcome truly depends on your body and how it heals.
Your history of scars can give you a bit of an idea what your art may look like but really patience is your friend.
I will NOT re cut a scar.
If it has not healed in a manner you like then I suggest trying a different place on your body. Your body has already shown you how it likes to heal in that area!
